The Xiaomi E-Scooter 4 stands as a sleek and practical electric scooter, tailored for urban commuters seeking a blend of performance and convenience. We will try to cover all aspects of the features basis our own experience riding this fun machine!
Technical Features
Powered by a 600-Watt electric motor, the E-Scooter 4 delivers a smooth and responsive ride. Noteworthy technical features include 6-Axis Gyroscope, 10” Tubeless Tyres, built in LED Headlight and switchable brake light combining to offer a well-rounded urban commuting experience. It also has E-ABS regenerative anti-lock braking system + Rear dual-pad disc to allow for powerful braking as well as some level of battery re-charge on the go when braking.
There are 3 driving modes, Pedestrian Mode (6km/h), Standard mode 20km/h and Sport mode 25km/h*. The acceleration is linear and strong, and you need to be careful about braking until you get used to them because the brakes have quite the bite. Though, I don’t see many people using any mode other than Sport 😊
Besides this, you can set, customize, and review all of the information about the scooter on the MI Home app. This allows you to see remaining mileage, set the Regen level, Brake Light frequency mode and lock/unlock the scooter amongst other things.
Crafted with durability in mind, the E-Scooter 4 boasts a frame constructed from lightweight yet robust material. Though the company does not call out the exact type of alloy, it feels quite sturdy. I have to jump it over little bumps at street crossings to have an uninterrupted ride (Not having to go slow or pick up the scooter) and so far there have been no issues
The scooter has an Intuitive digital dashboard, the layout and design of which have been optimized to display all the info you need at a quick glance including a tire maintenance reminder which is quite useful.
The scooter has a claimed range of 35 km (Max) on a single charge (with the recent OTA Firmware upgrade), so it should ideally meet the needs of daily commuters. The 275.4Wh (7650mAh) large-capacity battery provides ample power to carry a load of 110 Kgs to its top speed of 25 kmph easily. However, the claimed 30 Km to a single charge is a little misleading. This depends on your weight, the road conditions, headwind, incline, availability to ride it continuously etc. You can realistically expect 35 Kms ONLY when riding conditions are all favourable. A 110 Kg person (Max Load for this scooter) will not go 35 km on a single charge, more likely 22 Km at best. The lesser you weigh, the flatter your road elevation, the closer you will get to the promised 35 km/charge.
I’m 88 Kgs and have inclines, declines and stoppages on my regular two-way travel of 17 kms and I am very anxious about making it home on my way back! I am looking forward to testing this now with the OTA upgrade which gives 5kms more than the original claim of 30 kms.
Charging Time: Claimed battery charging time of 5 hrs to 100% is just about right. A month into using it, the battery is actually charging at a little under 5 Hours.
Tyres: Equipped with 10” Inch Tubed Tyre at the front and rear, the E-Scooter 4 ensures stability and traction on various urban surfaces. Having tubed tyres also provides the only suspension that the scooter has. There is no separate front suspension built into the unit.
Folding and portability: Designed for urban living, the E-Scooter 4 features a convenient front folding mechanism, allowing users to effortlessly fold and unfold the scooter for compact storage in tight spaces. The weight of the scooter is 15kgs and the manufacturer has been cognizant of the need to put this into car boots. Once folded, the scooter fits into the boot of most small hatchbacks as well.
The Xiaomi E-Scooter 4 stands is a reliable and efficient electric scooter, offering an ideal solution for daily urban commuting. Good mileage, reasonable charging time and thoughtful design make it a compelling choice for riders seeking a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
If you have been considering the Xiaomi Scooter 3, which had rave reviews, then this is an upgrade in more than one way. Height, Width, Tyres and battery, all have been upgraded.
For users exploring alternatives, comparable models in the market include Ninebot Max G30LP and the Segway Ninebot Kickscooter ES2.
Buyers are encouraged to compare features, specifications, and prices to make an informed decision based on their specific needs.
